About
Christine Bakoula [Χριστίνα Μπακούλα] is a graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where she received her Bachelor's degree in Italian Studies. In 2000 she obtained her Master's degree in Translation Studies from the University of Portsmouth. In 2005 she completed her PhD at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, titled 'Language matters in two translations of Pirandello's play "Sei Personaggi in Cerca d' Autore" (the Greek translation was rendered by Alexis Solomos, the English by Felicity Firth)'. In addition, in 2007 she obtained her second Master's degree in Comparative Linguistics and Language Variation from the University of Patras.
For the past ten years, Christine has taught several courses as a teacher of Italian and English. She has written several papers concerning translation studies, lexicology and lexicography. She has also participated in a number of meetings and conferences, including the Second and the Third Annual Meeting of Linguistics, the First Meeting of Young Researchers in Translation Studies, the Second Meeting of Greek-Speaking Translation Studies Scholars, the Second and the Third International Conference of Foreign Language Teaching in Tertiary Education.
Her research interests focus on the following fields: bilingual dictionaries, semantics, translation equivalence, translation methods, translation skills, literary translation, teaching translation, and translation workshop.
